U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued CSMS #69711865, announcing that effective September 14, 2026, ACE will reject entry summaries when the required copper smelt and cast country information is not reported.
The requirement applies to imports of certain copper articles under HTSUS classifications 8544.42.10, 8544.42.20, 8544.42.90, and 8544.49.10 from all countries of origin except the United States. Importers must report the primary country of smelt and country of cast and may also report the secondary country of smelt.
Action Required: Review entry processes now to ensure the required copper smelt and cast data is available prior to filing to avoid ACE rejections beginning September 14.
