On February 24, 2023, Presidential Proclamation 10522 covering “Adjusting Imports of Aluminum into the United States” requires that importers provide U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) information necessary to identify the countries where the primary aluminum used in the manufacture of aluminum articles and derivative aluminum articles were cast.
Additionally, any imports of aluminum articles or aluminum derivative articles that are the product of Russia (effective March 10, 2023) or where any amount of primary aluminum used in the manufacture of the aluminum articles is smelted in Russia, or the aluminum articles are cast in Russia (effective April 10, 2023), are subject to a 200 percent ad valorem rate of duty.
